My Town Entry Event
Listen...
The entry event will actually take place during the second week of the semester (1st week of the PBL). Students will meet Lori - who has an incredible life story of joy, disaster, punishment, redemption, peace, and forgiveness. (Lori got into drugs and trouble, died several times from overdoses, was jailed for crimes, turned her life around, went to the college, began a non-profit, and now is an active member of the college community and several clubs - she uses our multimedia students to help with projects occasionally).
Story
Lori has an incredible story, especially when we hear it from her in person. But how could we tell it to others if Lori isn't there? Would video work? Are there more stories like this in the community? Maybe not exactly like this story, but important nonetheless. This will open our discussion on the storytelling power of video. We will watch this video & this video ( if there is time, students can choose between this video or this video ). This will open a discussion on the following questions.
- What makes video such a powerful storytelling medium?
- What are some characteristics of good videos?
- What makes a story good?
- How do you begin telling a story?
- What stories should/could be told in the community that could benefit from a video?
